The Butcher's Social - a great name for this place because it represents them really well. Before this was a bar & restaurant, it all started from an old butchers shop in Harborne, where they hosted a one off event that had great vibes & atmosphere. Because this event was so successful they thought...hey why not open a bar & restaurant...great back story. And the "Social" from their name is very accurate because as soon as Katey & I walked in, people where laughing, cheering and having a great time. This is why I kind of wish this was my local...but unfortunately it is not as it requires me to drive 40 mins!

From the front, it looks like a traditional small pub, but as you walk through the front to the back, you realise it opens up with this amazing up market restaurant. It has an awesome centre table that your attention is instantly drawn to due to the lights above it. The service we received was quick, warm and attentive and we really had a great time here!

Starters: £4 House Bread with Onion Whipped Butter & £4 Mixed Marinated Olives

Main: £27 12ox Ribeye Steak, with £4 Bone Marrow Triple Cooked Chips and £3 Bone Marrow Hollandaise sauce.

Dessert: £8 Apple Tart Tatin with Apple Parfait, Gingerbread & Apple Sorbet. Also finished with a cheeseboard to accompany the wine. £9 for 4 cheeses!

The olives where incredible, very well marinated and full of flavour, and the bread with the whipped butter went with it so well! Although the starter was great, I was eagerly waiting for my 12oz Ribeye steak and boy was I not disappointed! The steak was cooked so well (medium rare), it literally felt like it melted in my mouth. The Bone Marrow Hollandaise Sauce was served cold, and it had a buttery texture with a hit of a unique salty taste, that surprisingly went really well with the steak. I usually go for a warm sauce with the steak like a peppercorn or mushroom sauce but I am glad I tried this sauce.

I have an ultimate sweet tooth, so as you can imagine I love dessert. However, one thing that I personally found disappointing was the dessert menu... because nothing popped out at me. I see a cheeseboard as more of as a starter personally, as I like to finish on a sweet note, however I ended up getting this instead of the dessert options, My partner got the Apple Tart Tatin with Apple Parfait and as my dessert "spidey senses" warned me, it was not something that I personally enjoyed. The Apple parfait, was "interesting"...let's leave it at that.

However, I do not want to finish on a negative because honestly this place deserves high praise for what the owners have done. They have created a place where people clearly have a great time, enjoy the amazing popping atmosphere, and certainly enjoy the tasty food. I will be back, especially as when I was walking out I got a glimpse of the mouth watering salted caramel chicken wings!!
